We Are CAUSE-UAW!

The Coalition of Alaska University Staff for Equity (CAUSE) is a collection of University of Alaska staff forming a union for all staff across the UA system. As staff, we recognized the need to form a staff union that advocates for all of us. Our work sustains this institution. We are joining academic workers across the U.S. who are seeking to secure a better future through collective bargaining as part of the UAW. Through a strong union, we can negotiate meaningful improvements to our salary, benefits, working conditions, and more. 

Without collective bargaining, we experienced stagnant salaries, increasing workloads, vanishing benefits, threats to job security, and a lack of transparency in administrative policies. If our benefits and working conditions are secured in a collective bargaining agreement, UA cannot change the terms of our employment without our consent. We formed our union in order to improve our working conditions and to make the university a more equitable and accessible institution for all staff.
